The next in our "Hogwarts Founding Ponies" series - Gryffindor (which is the BEST HOUSE, by the way.)

I want to go with somewhat muted shades for these - Straight up gold and crimson would be painful to look at. In a way, I got inspiration for the color scheme from "The Lion King" (since the Gryffindor animal is the lion). Sort of gold and brownish-red.

His cutie mark is a coat of arms, symbolizing bravery and a protective nature, and slung around his back is the sword of Godric Gryffindor (it's in its sheath, hence the black blade area). I was stumped o what color to make his eyes, so, after doing some research, I decided on green (the eye color of Godric Gryffindor). I may change Ravenclaw's to a darker color because of this (I don't really like the yellow).

I will say that it was a pleasant challenge to design a MALE alicorn. He obviously couldn't be slender and graceful like an alicorn mare, yet he had to still give off a sense of power and regality. I hope I was able to capture that. ^_^
